FARO and TESIS open a new fully-fledged Calibration Center for advanced measuring devices
FARO and TESIS are joining forces to establish a fully-fledged new calibration and service center for FARO products in Moscow. The new center opening on 16th December 2010 with a customer and VIP event will enable owners of FARO products to conveniently service and recalibrate their tools within their own market region instead of sending them abroad.
FARO Releases a new software update: CAM2 Q 1.5
FARO, the world’s leading provider of portable measurement and imaging solution has just released version 1.5 of its CAM2 Q software.
CAM2 Q is FARO’s 3D measurement software solution that enables customers to complete measurement jobs quickly and reliably while providing freedom to measure as is required by the application. It is Solid Measurement Made Simple.
This version of the software contains a new set of features that not only enhance the the capabilities of CAM2 Q but also, more importantly, simplify the measurement process for all users:
Immediate measurement capability: Measuring with CAM2 Q was easy and has now become much easier. Measurements can be taken anytime and CAM2 Q 1.5 will record them.
Unleash the Laser Tracker!: The potential of the Laser Tracker can be futher exploited with new features like: Bundle Adjustment, TrackArm capabilities and qTouch, the new iPhone/iPod Touch application for remote control of FARO devices.
CAM2 compatibility: SoftCheckTools programs from earlier versions of CAM2 software can now be imported and run within CAM2 Q.
For more information, please visit the CAM2 Q microsite. Trial versions can be requested from the Downloads section of the site.
Quality on Tour 2010 – How portable measurement systems improve quality control
FARO is organising a European series of seminars called ‘Quality on Tour’ this autumn. The aim is to educate the participants on quality control topics. The seminars are carried out in conjunction with universities and measurement experts.
The seminar Quality on Tour consists of two days and features the topics ‘Portable measurement technology, articulated arm Coordinate Measuring Machines and laser scanners’ as well as ‘Measuring large volumes and laser trackers’. During the mornings participants will hear theoretical introductions to measurement systems, how they work and where they can be employed. In the afternoons participants will have the opportunity to test and deepen their newly gained knowledge in workshops.
The Quality on Tour seminars are taking place in October and November in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, France and Italy. The UK event will take place on 16th and 17th November at Warwick University in Coventry.
More information can be found on http://www.qualityontour.com/.
FARO France @ MIDEST Show 2010
FARO will be exhibiting at the MIDEST Show which will be taking place from 2nd to 5th November at the Exhibition Centre in Villepinte (near Paris). The MIDESt fair is the world’s largest show exclusively dedicated to industrial subcontracting and face to face meetings. FARO will display its whole range of 3D measuring systems, including the whole new FARO Laser Scanner Focus3D.
Objective – Leadership in Innovation
FARO has successfully combined three tried-and-tested measuring systems in the Track ScanArm. The mobile measuring system is particularly impressive in the measurement of entire vehicles, not least as a result of its efficiency.
The BMW Group relies on the latest, state-of-the-art technologies, in particular in development and production. In this context, the Track ScanArm from FARO, which is used at the plants in Dingolfing and Regensburg (both in Germany), represents an equally clever and mobile measuring system in Geometric Integration measuring technology.
Webinar: Efficient CAD to Part Measurement with CAM2 Q, 21st September
We invite you to join our webinar: “Efficient CAD to Part Measurement with CAM2 Q” on Tuesday, 21st September at 02:00PM (GMT).
The webinar will consist of a live demonstration of CAM2 Q showing its efficiency in the measurement of parts against a CAD model. The live demonstration will focus on the following elements of the measurement process:
• Importing / viewing of CAD files
• Performing a CAD to part alignment
• Measuring prismatic features
• Measuring points on CAD surfaces
• Performing part dimensioning
• Building a report
Software Tips & Tricks: Investigating large measurement volumes simply and accurately with PolyWorks and the FaroArm
It is sometimes necessary to carry out measurements from several positions in order to check larger components. The measuring software used for this task faces the challenge of greater measuring errors. For example, in what is known as the leap-frog process, measuring error accumulates with every repositioning of the digitising system. PolyWorks offers an excellent solution through its flexible device position management in combination with the FaroArm. Using algorithms for bundle adjustment, the errors arising in the leap-frog process are evenly distributed across the individual positions.
FARO UK presents solutions for quality control improvements at Aero Engineering, Birmingham
FARO will show their measurement solutions at this years Aero Engineering. Visitors can see live demonstrations of FARO’s 3D measurement devices at stand 507 from 29th to 30th September at the NEC in Birmingham.
Norton Motorcycles revives their glory using cutting-edge technology from FARO
FARO now helps Norton Motorcycles to meet the high quality requirements of today – even if their bikes are a revival of the motorsport aficionados’ dream from half a century ago.
Norton Motorcycles is an iconic name in British Motorcycle history and the phoenix is rising from the ashes at a new manufacturing facility, at the home of Motorcycle racing, Donnington Park. To make sure that quality is on the highest level, Norton use a FaroArm Platinum 2.4m to measure motorcycle parts, frames, sub assemblies, and finished products.
