“It was crazy out there!” – Jenson wins final 2012 Grand Prix in Brasil
FARO congratulates the Vodafone McLaren team, especially Jenson Button, on his millimetre-perfect race and the brilliant management of the changeable and challenging weather conditions at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, Interlagos, Brasil.
Last Sunday after the extremely exciting race, the very last in this season, Jenson Button said: “The conditions were always going to trigger plenty of action, because some cars could generate the required tyre temperatures and others couldn’t. So, for most of the race, you were on a tyre that didn’t feel quite right for the conditions, but for which the lap-times looked okay compared with those of the cars on the other tyre.
“The Safety Car made life more difficult for us – we lost the 40-second buffer we’d built up – but then the rain really came down, and the race became all about choosing the best time to switch to the Inters.”
“Last but not least, congratulations to Sebastian [Vettel]. To win three world championships in a row is a great achievement.”

Like every year, the French FARO team was present and enjoyed a record attendance of 600 visitors! Despite the economical uncertainties, buyers from diverse European companies visited our booth to learn more about 3D measurement systems and how these can improve production and quality processes.
Car manufacturers and subcontractors from the aerospace, railway and energy sector were especially interested in the new Vantage Laser Tracker.
Lewis wins the Grand Prix in Austin, Texas
FARO congratulates the Vodafone McLaren team, especially Lewis Hamilton, on its phenomenal performance last Sunday at the Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, USA.
Lewis’s victory was Vodafone McLaren Mercedes’ sixth grand prix win of the 2012 season and McLaren’s 12th grand prix win on United States soil.
“I’m massively proud and extremely happy. I nearly lost my voice because I was screaming so much on the in-lap – not cool at all!
“To overtake both Red Bulls in the race was the coolest thing for me. The backmarkers really came into play today – and, finally, they worked in my favour. I’ve often been caught out when I’ve been trying to get through traffic, but things finally went my way today.” Hamilton said after the race.
Facility Management Conference – Planning and management of buildings in 3D
At the association meeting of Real FM current technological developments are presented in CAD for planning and management of buildings.
A trend in this area is the integrated digital 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM); relevant building data are recorded digitally, combined and integrated.
The following speakers from theory and practice, discussed the opportunities and trends of BIM as a method for optimizing design, construction and management of buildings:
- Prof. Steinmann from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Munich
- Dr. Krisztian Hegedus – Autodesk
- Manuel Norbert Loos – Audi AG
- Matthias Braun – Obermeyer Planning + Consulting GmbH
- Stefan Hug – FARO Europe
Manuel Loos commented: “The most important reason for AUDI to continuously use 3D factory design is to improve communication across all planning and decision making processes.”
