Quality on Tour 2010 – How portable measurement systems improve quality control

FARO is organising a European series of seminars called ‘Quality on Tour’ this autumn. The aim is to educate the participants on quality control topics. The seminars are carried out in conjunction with universities and measurement experts.

The seminar Quality on Tour consists of two days and features the topics ‘Portable measurement technology, articulated arm Coordinate Measuring Machines and laser scanners’ as well as ‘Measuring large volumes and laser trackers’. During the mornings participants will hear theoretical introductions to measurement systems, how they work and where they can be employed. In the afternoons participants will have the opportunity to test and deepen their newly gained knowledge in workshops.

The Quality on Tour seminars are taking place in October and November in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, France and Italy. The UK event will take place on 16th and 17th November at Warwick University in Coventry.

New FARO Laser Scanner Focus3D is 1st Choice for 1st Horizon

The first global order for six units of the new FARO Laser Scanner Focus3D has been placed by 1st Horizon, based near Sheffield, in the UK.

1st Horizon Surveying & Engineering Ltd offers a complete measured survey & 3D laser scanning service. They provide expertise for anything from simple reduced level surveys, to detailed laser scans and intelligent 3D modelling.

1st Horizon is an established survey company that specialises in 3D laser scanning. Managing Director, Mr Jim Garside commented, “We are an existing FARO customer using the FARO Laser Scanner Photon 120 and we have worked very closely with FARO Product Management on the development of the new FARO Focus3D. The new scanner is a real leap forward in technology and will allow us to improve our scanning efficiency by it‘s speed, portability and data quality”.

Jim continued, “we are investing heavily in the new FARO Focus3D to meet the growing demands for hiring and scanning services that our customers are demanding”.
